Marian A. Middleton, 99, died May 14th, 2011 in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on May 7, 1912 to Mary Catherine Miller Orr and Edward B. Orr in Ross County, Ohio where she resided most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard B. Middleton; sisters Grace Anderson, Edna Moats, Evelyn Lucas, Maxine Smith, Betty Jean Orr, Marjorie Orr; brother Presley Orr; son-in-law William Rice and grandson Richard Rice.

She was a graduate of Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She taught elementary school in the Chillicothe system and was active in professional organizations and civil groups. Marian was a lifelong member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bridge, sports, gardening, bowling and puzzles of all kinds.

Marian lived her last years in Carmel to be close to her daughter Mary Jane Rice who survives her. Other survivors are her granddaughters Ann (James) Meadows, Judith (John) Cooney; great-grandchildren Rachel Meadows, Daniel Meadows, Erin Cooney and Kyle Cooney.
